The special nights don't change the ticket price, but add a little extra fun. 31, there will be a few family-fun-night events. 2022 Jack O' Lantern Spectacular Family Fun NightsĪs the JOLS season takes over the zoo from Sept. However, I'm sure I will not be disappointed by the thousands of illuminated pumpkins walking me down memory lane one show at a time when the new season of the Spectacular kicks off on Sept. Though the TV show idea sounds great, having a history of the zoo, technology, transportation and more from 1872 through 2022 would have been a pretty cool concept, too. Personally I was a little surprised that the zoo wasn't highlighting their own 150th birthday for this year's theme. The zoo adds that many of the shows’ musical theme songs will play as you walk past their 5,000 carved pumpkins. That means many of the pumpkins will be carved to represent favorite TV shows and characters from the last 75 years of television. This season the zoo has chosen television as the theme. Made for a really lovely weekend day. What is the 2022 Jack O' Lantern Spectacular Theme? There are also many volunteers/employees stationed throughout the zoo, to monitor the flow of pedestrian traffic and answer questions.įor families with children, this is an excellent way to spend half of a day, and I would suggest spending the balance of the day in Roger Williams Park, where we enjoyed strolling the Japanese Garden and took a swan boat ride in the pond. Walkways are all one-way, so you're never facing large swaths of guests walking in your direction, and the pathways have painted notations indicating where one should stand to allow for social distancing. Admission is timed to allow for spacing of guests, although you can stay in the zoo for as long as you like after entry. My 7 year old daughter loved this zoo, which boasts a wide array of animals in what mostly seem to be spacious enclosures.Īmidst covid, our experience was expectedly different, but we were hugely impressed by the efforts the zoo has undertaken to ensure guest safety. Obviously a very kid-oriented place, but we adult animal fans enjoyed our time there too. At least they have enough parking though! It might be best to drop anyone with a mobility issue at the entrance before parking. On a busy day however be prepared to walk. Perhaps the purple haired "security" girl was just being officious telling people to mask up in there. I was baffled at this given the store had staff who were unmasked. Indoor exhibits (including the giraffe house) are mask mandated currently. There are food outlets in the Zoo (we did not partake so can't comment on them). You have to buy a re-usable bad, or bring your own. I'm sure they would like to get up there and soar. While we were there another bird of prey was circling overhead, and the Eagles called to it, and the flying bird answered back (we think). They are rescue animals who can no longer fly. there are also some cute Alpacas (in a great farm area for the kids). Be warned some exhibits are closed in the winter (or some might have been closed due to Covid). There is a snow leopard which is beautiful, endangered red wolves and an Asian Black Bear but sometimes spotting them is difficult, or they are well camouflaged. The highlights of this zoo are the Elephants, Cheetas, the indoor Giraffe house where you get up close with the Giraffe and the Red Panda outdoor exhibit (they are so cute). ![]() I'm not sure if we lucked out or if this is a Winter deal, but definitely value for money. ![]() We actually got two for one which was a great bargain. IT was an unseasonably warm day and we had bought timed tickets. We had a good time at Roger Williams Zoo. ![]()
